Last month, our amazing SHEQ Director Rebecca Harris FCIOB, CertIOSH,AIEMA took on the mighty London Marathon in support of Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund
Months of training, discipline and determination led to this moment and we are all in awe of what Rebecca has achieved personally and for our corporate charity partner. Rebecca’s motivation comes from a deeply personal place. Watching her mum go through breast cancer changed her in ways that words can barely capture. Now, she’s channelling that experience, the fear, the strength, the love into something meaningful, supporting families facing the heartache of childhood cancer.
Why Lennox Childrens’ Cancer Fund?
Working closely with Lennox over the past two years, I’ve seen first-hand the extraordinary impact they have on children and families facing the unimaginable – a cancer diagnosis. From emotional support to practical help like respite breaks, care grants, and memory-making experiences, Lennox does everything it can to bring light into dark times.
The pain….
Rebecca said, “To say that it broke me would be an understatement. Was feeling good for a while soaking in the crowds it was beautiful and then somewhere near the 20mile point I slipped on a discarded water bottle and the pain took hold, I hobbled for 6 more miles. I was sick twice. I cried a lot. But I didn’t stop. I gave it everything I had and I am proud of that. Thank you to my cheer squad I couldn’t have done it without you each sighting was a boost mentally. Knowing I had ppl waiting at the finish pushed me through. Broken but not defeated.”
The Love…
CEO of Lennox Cancer Fund, Vincent Fitzmaurice said: “Congratulations, Rebecca! Everyone at Lennox is incredibly proud of you. Your achievement and the amazing amount you’ve raised in support of Lennox is truly inspiring 🎗️🎗️”
